Just Let Her Stay Home and Lez

My dad’s close friend is dead, and I can’t go to his funeral

No matter that this man was like an uncle to me. No matter this man was among the adults that told me to value my sense of humor. No matter this man told me I was the funniest kid he’d ever met. No matter this man taught me how to fish. No matter this man was the only adult on a boat of five adults that saw I didn’t want to pull the hook out of a fish when it swallowed my hook. No matter that he was the one to distract me by having me be the one to sure the anchor was secure as he removed the fish. No matter he told me anyone that bullied me deserved to have their asses kicked. No matter he was one of the reasons I fought back instead of killing myself. No matter.

All I can do is say thank you. Thank you for helping me like myself. Thank you for being the funny short man.

Thanks, Ralphie.
